UPDATE, MAY 10: Here’s the performance!

Las Colibrí at Union Station.
Join us at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 9, for the online performance Versos y Besos with Las Colibrí, presented by Metro Art and the Autry Museum of the American West. This is a special Mother’s Day mariachi performance featuring much-loved classic songs of the genre and was filmed in Union Station’s historic Ticketing Hall.
The concert will be streamed online at 7 p.m. on Facebook (Metro, Metro Art, Union Station and the Autry) and YouTube (Union Station and Metro). RSVP on Eventbrite to receive updates.
The performance is inspired by composer and singer Manuela C. Garcia (1867-1931), who was born and raised downtown near what is now Union Station and whose whose archival materials are currently on display at The Autry as part of “What’s Her Story: Women in the Archives at the Autry Museum of the American West.” The program also includes a reading of an original poem by Amy Shimshon-Santo that reflects on Garcia’s life.
