In an effort to reduce touchpoints and focus critical cleaning efforts where riders need it most, some of our redundant and underutilized entrances to B/D Line (Red/Purple) subway stations were closed early last year. However, as the COVID-19 situation in L.A. County continues to improve and ridership returns, staff have been working to safely reopen these portals as key destinations in those areas reopen.
The park & ride/Citywalk portal at Universal City/Studio City Station and the 1st Street portal at Civic Center/Grand Park Station will reopen to the public on Monday, April 12 after 10 a.m.
Portals at the following stations will remain closed for the time being:
- Westlake/MacArthur Park Station North Portal/99 Cent Store entrance is closed, use nearby main entrance.
- Vermont/Santa Monica Station Willow Brook/LA City College entrance is closed, use main entrance.
- Pershing Square Station 4th Street NW/Angels Flight entrance is closed, use 4th Street NE/Grand Central Market entrance.
All stations will remain ADA accessible with station elevator access, and trains will continue to serve all stations. Signage will direct customers to nearby alternate entrances and exits. Metro staff will continue to monitor ridership and work with local schools and businesses to determine when the remaining portals may reopen.
