A virtual public meeting on Wednesday evening for Metro’s Traffic Reduction Study was interrupted by an attendee who briefly posted racist and offensive material on the screen during a slide presentation. Metro strongly condemns the racist and offensive material posted and apologizes to those in attendance at the meeting.
The agency has held dozens of virtual meetings with the public during the ongoing pandemic without incident. These meetings have proven a great way to keep the public informed as Metro moves forward on a wide variety of projects and programs to improve mobility in our region. Nonetheless, Metro will work very hard to strengthen our technology to ensure meetings remain informative, civil and free of inappropriate and offensive content.
