“… Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve.”
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a champion of racial justice and equality, whose dream of racial harmony and calls for non-violent protests, some of the most visible of which were organized around public transportation, galvanized a powerful civil rights movement in the United States that would eventually hasten the signing of the landmark Civil Rights Act into law and reaffirm the bedrock American principle that all men and women were created equal.
Every year on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we commemorate Dr. King’s legacy by connecting his thoughts with action, and this year, Metro Bike Share is observing Martin Luther King Jr. Day by spotlighting and supporting local organizations in Los Angeles that work to improve their communities through acts of service and advocacy.
If your organization is planning a day of service or virtual event on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, please reach out to outreach@bikeshare.metro.net to be featured in Metro Bike Share’s monthly newsletter, digital events calendar, and @BikeMetro’s social media channels by Wednesday, Jan. 14.
