The main purpose of the Census is to figure out how many seats each state receives in the U.S. House of Representatives. But the Census is much more than flinging politicians into the right spots. Federal and state governments rely on Census data to decide on how to allocate funding for public services and infrastructure, which includes hospitals, fire departments, schools and — you guessed it — public transportation.
Census data will play a role in determining transportation improvements through federal funding for all of L.A County. So help shape the future you want by filling out the census today. It’s just 10 easy questions and everything is kept confidential. The online census is offered in 13 different languages and you can fill it out from the comfort of your own home.
If you’ve already filled out the Census, that’s great! We hope you’ll help spread the word to family and friends, and help them understand how important it is to be counted. And while you’re at it, ask if they’re registered to vote (and make sure you are too!). 😊
