Preview of March Regional Service Council meetings

It’s March and all Regional Service Councils will return to their normal monthly meeting locations and times instead of meeting around one of the NextGen workshops they hosted like last month (NextGen Bus Plan workshops continue across L.A.County throughout the month).

Transit riders are highly encouraged to attend a workshop to explore the proposed NextGen Bus Plan and meet the service planners designing faster, more reliable service bus service for LA County. The workshop dates, times, and locations are available here; and more information about the Bus Plan is also in the link.

In March, all Councils will receive an update and overview on Metro’s MicroTransit Pilot Project (not to be confused with the Mobility on Demand pilot). At its February meeting, the Metro Board of Directors approved launching this new Metro-operated, on-demand shared ride service for short trips to six designated service zones in L.A. County in vehicles that hold up to 10 passengers. All Councils will also receive the monthly bus performance report for their respective region. This report recaps Metro’s bus service performance for the month of January 2020 and will also cover any regional announcements and items of note.

The San Gabriel Valley and Westside/Central Councils will also receive an update on the Regional Connector Project that will connect Metro’s A (Blue), E (Expo) and L (Gold) Lines.

The purpose of the Councils is to improve service and provide a space for riders and members of the community to ask questions, provide suggestions, and voice concerns about bus service. Attendees have opportunities to make comments about service issues in their service areas and learn about Metro’s regional projects and programs during all meetings.

For more information about each Service Council, take a look at their web pages by clicking on the names below. The agenda items for each Council are listed below and the agendas are posted at least three days in advance of each meeting date, though usually a little earlier.
