Spooky season is over! Put the costumes away and come enjoy the fall season at the Pasadena Playhouse. Lauren Yee’s basketball drama The Great Leap, directed by Tony Award-winning actor BD Wong, begins its run starting Wednesday, Nov. 6.
The witty and politically relevant drama showcases an American basketball team that travels to Beijing for an exhibition game. However, the coaches find themselves in a conflict that runs deeper than the tension between The U.S. and China as a young player’s actions abroad become the accidental focus of attention.
Sara Holdren of New York Magazine called the play “an exhilarating, deeply satisfying piece of work, full of bright, inquisitive, humorous life. Yee has crafted a moving fiction around pieces of real history.”
The production will play from Wednesday, Nov. 6 through Sunday, Dec. 1 with tickets starting at $25. But if you take the Metro Gold Line to Memorial Park Station, you can save 20 percent on tickets to any Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday performance just by by showing your TAP card.
