It’s National Arts and Humanities Month and here’s what Metro Art has planned! From the kickoff of a special animation film series to a haunted Shakespearean tour of Union Station, all events are free and open to the public:
- Friday, October 4: Song of the Sea from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., the first in an all-new film screening series featuring animated films on the theme of magical journeys at Union Station, paired with a drop-in thaumatrope workshop led by artist, filmmaker and educator Daphna Lapidot from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
- Saturday, October 5: Art Tour of Hollywood rail stations from 10 a.m. to noon. Meet at the street level entrance to North Hollywood Station (Red Line).
- Sunday, October 6: Art tour of downtown rail stations from 10 a.m. to noon. Meet at the Union Station information kiosk near the Alameda Street entrance.
- Sunday, October 6: Meet Metro artist Fabian Debora and receive a free copy of his Through the Eyes of Artists poster depicting El Pueblo de Los Angeles. He will be signing posters at “CicLAvia: Heart of LA 2019, presented by Metro,” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m at the Metro outreach booth located at 7th and Flower Streets.
- Friday, October 11: Metro Art will give away copies of its poster featuring Pasadena Through the Eyes of Artist Walter Askin from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at ArtNight Pasadena.
- Saturday, October 12: Art tour of downtown rail stations (en Español) from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet at the Union Station information kiosk near the Alameda Street entrance.
- Sunday, October 13: Art & Architecture Tour of Union Station from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30. Meet at the Union Station information kiosk near the Alameda Street entrance.
- Sunday, October 20: Metro Ghosts, a haunted tour of Union Station in collaboration with Independent Shakespeare Co. from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Meet at the Union Station information kiosk near the Alameda Street entrance.
- Thursday October 24: Metro Art Open House event #1 to learn about upcoming artist opportunities from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Self Help Graphics and Art.
- Saturday, October 26: Art tour of Gold line stations from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet at the entrance to Del Mar Station in Pasadena.
- Tuesday, October 29: Metro Art Open House event #2 to learn about upcoming artist opportunities from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Museum of African American Art.
