Football season returns this weekend with the Rams playing the Denver Broncos on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. It should be an exciting year with the Rams the defending NFC champion and facing a home schedule that includes games against the New Orleans Saints (!!!) and NFC West rivals the 49ers and Seahawks.
The USC Trojans begin their regular season campaign on Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Coliseum against Fresno State. The PAC-12 conference is loaded this season with Oregon, Utah, Washington and Washington State all expected to field strong teams. USC also hosts UCLA in the annual rivalry game on Nov. 23.
Metro will run extra Expo Line service on game days with three-car trains every eight minutes before and after games. The Expo/Vermont Station and Expo Park/USC Stations are both a short walk to the Coliseum.
Note: The Expo Line will resume service to Pico Station and 7th St/Metro Center this Saturday morning, which means you won’t need to use bus shuttles if you’re traveling from DTLA. The Blue Line is still currently replaced by bus shuttles between Compton Station and 7th St/Metro Center. If you’re traveling up from Long Beach, allow extra time or consider the Silver Line.
The Silver Line runs from El Monte Station through DTLA and to Harbor Gateway Transit Center and San Pedro. Take the Silver Line to 37th/USC, which is about a 10-minute walk to the Coliseum. Be sure to have a TAP card loaded with $2.50 fare to ride the Silver Line.
- Load your TAP card with $3.50 stored value in advance to avoid waiting in line on return trip. Each 1-way trip includes free transfers to other Metro lines for up to 2 hours.
- A Day Pass is $7.
- Fares are sold on TAP cards; buy them at TAP vending machines at Metro Rail stations or from a Metro representative.
- Use one TAP card per person
Finally, please note there is a clear bag policy at the Coliseum. For the fastest way to enter the stadium, guests are encouraged not to bring bags, or you’ll need to use a specific type of bag. Read up on the Coliseum’s clear bag policy here.
