From an outdoor dance summer series to the acrobatics of capoeira, here’s your guide to all the Metro Art events happening in August:
- Friday, August 2: “Movements at Union Station,” an all-new series featuring three different Los Angeles based DJ collectives. Join us on Union Station’s South Patio for the second installment of music provided by Heat-Wave, with dancing and visual light projections, and a drop-in silkscreen stencil workshop led by Self Help Graphics & Art from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- Saturday, August 3: Art tour of Hollywood rail stations from 10 a.m. to noon. Meet at the street level entrance to North Hollywood Station (Red Line).
- Sunday, August 4: Art tour of downtown rail stations from 10 a.m. to noon. Meet at the Union Station information kiosk near the Alameda Street entrance.
- Friday, August 9: “Movements at Union Station” continues with music provided by La Junta Los Angeles, with dancing and visual light projections, and a drop-in silkscreen stencil workshop led by Self Help Graphics & Art from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- Saturday, August 10: Art tour of downtown rail stations (en Español) from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet at the Union Station information kiosk near the Alameda Street entrance.
- Sunday, August 11: Art & Architecture Tour of Union Station from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet at the Union Station information kiosk near the Alameda Street entrance.
- Sunday, August 18: Meet Metro artist Iris Yirei Hu and receive a free signed copy of her West Hollywood “Through the Eyes of Artists” poster from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at “CicLAvia Meet the Hollywoods.” CORRECTION: Metro Art table will be at the Walk of Fame Hub next to Hollywood/Highland Station.
- Sunday, August 18: Join us in welcoming the Capoeira Exchange for an afternoon of movement and music as we explore the beautiful, entrancing practice of capoeira from noon to 3 p.m. in Union Station’s Ticket Hall.
- Sunday, August 24: Meet Purple Line commissioned artist Fran Siegel as she leads a series of history- and architecture-oriented activities, including a Wilshire Blvd walking tour from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
