UPDATE, 3 p.m.: A suspect has been taken into custody, according to the LAPD’s Twitter feed.
At approximately 12:52 p.m. Thursday as patrons were exiting a westbound Orange Line bus at Woodley Station in Van Nuys, riders heard gunshots and discovered a male victim on the bus who was fatally wounded. In an effort to apprehend the suspect, Metro is working vigorously with the LAPD to expedite identification and arrest of the suspect.
We express our heartfelt condolences to family and friends of our customer who perished today in this very unfortunate incident. Metro has a zero-tolerance policy for criminal activity that impacts the safety and security of our transit patrons. We will work closely with our law enforcement partners to apprehend the perpetrator.
