Weekend rail service will be suspended between Crenshaw and Redondo Beach Stations starting Friday, July 12 until fall of 2019 as work continues to connect the Green Line and new Crenshaw/LAX Line.

The work will begin every Friday at 9 p.m. with service resuming every Monday morning until the work is complete. During the closure, Hawthorne/Lennox, Aviation/LAX, Mariposa, El Segundo, Douglas and Redondo Beach Stations will be closed.

Bus shuttles will replace Green Line service between Crenshaw and Redondo Beach. Shuttles will run every 15 minutes. Regular rail service will continue between Norwalk and Crenshaw.

The rail connection between the Green and Crenshaw/LAX Lines started construction in January 2018 when rail tracks were installed, followed by installation of overhead power lines. This series of closures will allow Metro to being testing rail system software. The process is expected take more than 10 weekends.

Finally, we realize this work can be an inconvenience and we want to thank you for your patience as Metro prepares to open the Crenshaw/LAX Line in 2020. The Crenshaw/LAX Line is an 8.5-mile light rail line with eight new stations serving the Crenshaw, Inglewood, Westchester and LAX communities.

An additional station is currently under construction at Aviation Boulevard and 96th Street where the Crenshaw/LAX Line and Green Line riders will transfer to the LAX Automated People Mover to access airport terminals.
