Curtain call for the October Ford Theater productions — Go Metro to the final shows!

While Summer may be over, there’s still time to Go Metro to an enchanting evening under the stars at the Ford Theatres. There are three IGNITE @ the FORD! shows that will take place this month offering rich story-telling, diverse dance experiences and music you can sing along to.

This Saturday, Oct. 13, the theater will feature David T. Little’s Solider/Songs, a groundbreaking multi-media piece that fuses opera, rock and film to reveal the differences between the perceptions and realities of war. As one of the most imaginative and young composers, Little weaves together interviews with veterans from five wars to tell his narrative from the soldier’s point of views.

If you prefer something more lighthearted, head to an eclectic day of performance, live dance, food and meditation hosted by The Secret City Singers. The rotating roster of artists and performers will feature vocalist Patrice Quinn, the Cake Divas and Daniel Passer from Cirque de Soleil. Buy your tickets ASAP for access to the on-stage seats.

Ford Theatres will close the month by transforming their loading dock into the site for choreographer Heidi Duckler’s LOADED. The dance piece explores the physical and psychological impact of borders and seeks to inspire the audience to become more accepting of “the other.” As a politico, I’ll definitely check out LOADED — it’s a timely piece, given the swirling immigration debate.
