Here are the Metro Art events happening in August

From a dance party under the stars led by KCRW’s finest to the conclusion of our food themed film screening series, here’s your guide to the Metro Art events happening in August. All are free and open to the public!

  • Friday, August 3: The second installment of the “Summer Nights at Union Station” series in collaboration with KCRW. Join us for dancing, games, body painting, a photo booth, food trucks and music provided by KCRW DJs Anne Litt + Dan Wilcox from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Union Station’s South Patio.
  • Saturday, August 4: Art tour of Hollywood rail stations from 10 a.m. to noon. Meet at the street level entrance to North Hollywood Station (Red Line).
  • Sunday, August 5: Art tour of downtown rail stations from 10 a.m. to noon. Meet at the Union Station information kiosk near the Alameda Street entrance.
  • Friday, August 10: The final installment of the “Summer Nights at Union Station” series featuring KCRW DJs Raul Campos + Anthony Valadez from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Union Station’s South Patio.
  • Saturday, August 11: Art tour of Downtown rail stations (en español) from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet at the Union Station information kiosk near the Alameda Street entrance.
  • Sunday, August 12: Art & Architecture Tour of Union Station from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet at the Union Station information kiosk near the Alameda Street entrance.
  • Friday, August 17: Metro Art Presents “I Am Love” 2009, 120 min, Dir. Luca Guadagnino) as the final installment of our summer food film series, “Fil…mmm at Union Station.” Doors open at 7 p.m. in the historic Union Station’s North Patio; screening runs from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. (Food trucks available on-site starting at 5:30pm).
  • Sunday August 19: Brand-new series of art tours to Expo Line stations from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet at the entrance of Downtown Santa Monica Station.
  • Saturday, August 25: Brand-new series of art tours to Gold Line stations from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet at the entrance to Del Mar Station.
  • Sunday, August 26: Metro Art Presents Changes: Works at Union Station, an afternoon of 19 site-specific performances and interactive works by Los Angeles artists in multiple locations throughout the station from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, August 30: Join us for an Expo Line tour led by Metro artists Jessica Polzin McCoy and Richard Wyatt. The tour begins at 3699 Crenshaw Blvd, Los Angeles CA at 10:00 a.m. and is limited to 25 attendees. RSVP by emailing crenshawclc@metro.net

Union Station is accessible via Metro Rail, Metro Bus and several municipal bus lines. Use the Trip Planner for routes and connections. Car and bicycle parking are also available on site. Enter from Vignes or Cesar Chavez.
