Friendly reminder: there will be a live webcast beginning at 6:30 p.m. of the public hearing on Thursday for the Division Portal Widening and Turnback Facility Project.
This is the project that speed up the turnaround time for subway trains at Union Station and help add capacity to the line — which will be important when the Purple Line Extension opens, beginning with the first section in 2023. Here is a previous Source post on the project and here’s the project’s home page on metro.net.
For those who want to attend the hearing in person:
Thursday, April 12
6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Los Angeles Metro
One Gateway Plaza
Los Angeles, CA 90012
3rd Floor, Metro Board Room
The project’s Draft Environmental Impact Report was released last month.
Glad this is being done, it looks like things will be a lot more efficient. But I am concerned with how construction will impact First Street. It looks like they will need to relocate the westernmost piers of the First Street Bridge. Will that take days, weeks, or months?
