First/last mile planning for the City of Inglewood is underway for the existing Green Line Crenshaw Station and future Crenshaw/LAX Line stations including: Fairview Heights, Downtown Inglewood, Westchester/Veterans, and Aviation/96th Street.
Metro, the City of Inglewood staff and community members conducted community walk audits around these stations — walk audits are an important first step in helping Metro collect more data on existing pedestrian and bicycle conditions and connections to transit stations. They guide us as we evaluate existing conditions in order to develop targeted design and infrastructure solutions. For example, some of the things I helped look for when I went on one of the walk audits was street lighting conditions, ADA accommodations, uneven or broken sidewalks, and pedestrian crossing signage (or lack thereof).
The data collected from the walk audits will help inform neighborhood planning, but we’re not done yet! We need more input to ensure safe, accessible, and pleasant trips to and from transit throughout the City of Inglewood, so we hope you’ll come out and give your feedback at these upcoming community workshops:
