Take a little more transit and eat a little less meat — two things you can do to reduce your impact on the environment. In this installment of Meatless Mondays with Metro, let’s head to the San Fernando Valley for authentic Indian food at Baba Sweets.

As the name implies, it’s a great place to visit if you have a sweet tooth. They carry a wide variety of traditional Indian desserts, including one of my favorites: gulab jamun. Baba Sweets also serves savory food that’s all veggie.
For a modest price you get portion sizes that are actually filling and they offer free chai tea. Give the curried cauliflower a try! And be sure to get the garlic naan — it costs a little extra but it’s delicious.

To get to Baba Sweets, take Metro Bus 169 to Saticoy/Canoga. You can also take the Orange Line to Sherman Way Station. From there, it’s a 10-minute walk north on Canoga Avenue.
