Into the second week of the closure of five Green Line stations, crewmembers building the rail connection between the Crenshaw/LAX Line and Green Line are making good progress.
Existing Green Line rail has been sectioned and aligned with the new tracks that travel north toward LAX, Inglewood, the Crenshaw Corridor and the Expo Line. Rail, fasteners, screws, nuts and bolts are all in place waiting for final assembly.
In addition to the Green Line connection, rail placement is almost finalized along the section of the Crenshaw/LAX Line between the LAX underground segment and the Green Line. This segment transitions from a trench into an aerial segment intricately built under the 105 freeway while maintaining enough clearance over Imperial Highway.
As work continues, the five Green Line stations will remain closed and are scheduled to reopen on April 7 at 3 a.m. State of Good Repair work is also being performed on the closed section of the Green Line during the work. Go to metro.net/crenshaw for more details.
