This Weekend: Buses replace Blue Line trains between Slauson and Willowbrook/Rosa Parks

Starting this Friday evening through close of service on Sunday, there will be no train service to three Metro Blue Line stations — Florence, Firestone, 103rd/Watts Towers — in order for crews to complete track maintenance, along with debris clean-up in the area.

While this weekend’s work is in effect, bus shuttles will replace trains between Slauson and Willowbrook/Rosa Parks. This means all southbound trains stop at Slauson and turn back towards downtown Los Angeles. All northbound trains will stop at Willowbrook/Rosa Parks and turn back towards Long Beach.

Blue Line trains are slated to arrive every 12 minutes during the day and every 20 minutes at night throughout the weekend. Bus shuttles will match Blue Line service levels as best as possible. However, trips are expected to take about 20 minutes longer than usual, so please allow extra time and plan accordingly. As an alternate service, consider Metro Bus Line 55/355 which runs on nearby Compton Avenue.

Metro personnel will be on hand to lend assistance at all Blue Line stations where work and bus shuttles are in effect. Normal Blue Line service will resume with the start of service on Monday morning.

Finally, thank you to our customers for their patience and understanding as we complete this weekend’s work. These repairs and upgrades will result in safer and more reliable Blue Line service.

  1. terrible, seems like there is always “weekend maintenance” with delays on this train #measureM

  2. Can the Silver Line $0.75 upcharge be waived that day? Silver Line is a good North South Alternative, and Metro waived the upcharge when disruptions occur on the blue line.

  3. the million dollar question: Will there be a train at Willowbrook waiting for us if we leave 7MC on the last blue line train towards LB at 210AM on Friday (sat morning) and Sat night (sunday morning) and use the shuttle bus. A month ago when they last did this we got stranded at willowbrook station- it was upsetting and an expensive uber ride home.
