All Metro Bus and Rail service will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on Thanksgiving Day this Thursday.
This means all buses without Sunday service will not run. For routes and service information visit Metro.net or call 323.GO.METRO. Regular weekday service will resume Friday, Nov. 24.
Additionally, some Metro Bus lines may be impacted by detours due to holiday events. Check out Metro’s Planned Service Advisories page to see if your line will be detouring and for detailed bus routes.
Have a happy holiday weekend! Stay safe and over eat!

I wanted to point out that running regular weekday service, however, on the Friday after Thanksgiving doesn’t seem like the best use of service hours. I took Silver/Expo to SaMo and back between 2 pm and 6 pm, and all those virtually empty buses rotating around El Monte station made me sad. The Silver Line carried probably an average of 5 people per load coming back from downtown. Worse, since the traffic conditions were far superior to the regular schedule, the buses ended up holding for minutes at random locations throughout the route. At least two Silver Lines passed us on the I-10 Expresslanes.
I don’t have a good solution since I’m nowhere near familiar with operations, but perhaps a hybrid schedule could be put into effect with weekday rail frequencies while the buses runs a Saturday schedule. The Expo seemed moderately busy; I think everyone who wanted a seat could find one.
