Take a little more transit and eat a little less meat — two things you can do to reduce your environmental impact. In this installment of Meatless Mondays with Metro, let’s take a look at a reader recommendation: Bulan Thai.
Bulan Thai is, according to Zagat, “a vegetarian restaurant for non-vegetarians.” Their veggie meats are actually good and not sad wannabe imitations. Their curry flavors are top notch. Some of their dishes are egg-optional, for those who aren’t 100% vegan. And they even offer coconut ice cream for dessert.
I’m personally fond of the seaweed rolls, or as I sometimes like to call them, Asian taquitos. They’re not the healthiest option since they’re deep fried, but they’re just perfect little crunchy noodle-y bites.
To get to Bulan Thai, take Metro Bus 2/302 to Sunset/Sanborn. You can also take the Red Line to Vermont/Santa Monica Station and walk about 15 minutes east on Santa Monica Boulevard.

Chiguacle Restaurant at Olvera Street has wonderful vegetarian and vegan choices including a cauliflower dish with mole’, cactus tortillas, a great mushroom dish that would make any meat eater not miss meat at all!
