Service Alert: Gold Line disruption due to emergency signal repairs

On Tuesday, Oct 24, the Rail Operations Control Center received notification of damaged signal equipment affecting the Foothill Extension from Irwindale to APU/Citrus Stations.

After further investigation, it was determined that the damage was caused due to overheated wiring.

The signaling system sustained extensive damage to the wiring and equipment systems which control the Virginia, San Gabriel, Azusa and Pasadena grade crossing gates.

Signal personal are on scene making necessary repairs; however, work could take a few days to complete.

The following Gold Line service will be in effect until repairs are completed:

  • AM/PM peak service will maintain an approximate 10 minute interval from Atlantic to APU/Citrus Stations
  •  There will be some NB turn-back operations at Duarte Station to reduce congestion, only if necessary
  • Midday/Late PM service will maintain an approximate 16 minute interval from Atlantic to APU/Citrus Stations.

LASD and Rail personnel are also assisting with vehicle traffic and manual operations at the affected crossing gates to provide safe passage for pedestrians.
