Here are the Metro Art events happening in September

From an artist-led tour of Union Station’s newest light box exhibition to a rush hour concert centered around the cimbalom, here’s your guide to the Metro Art events happening in September. Did we mention they’re all free and open to the public?

  • Saturday, September 2: Art Tour of Rail Stations from 10 a.m. to noon. Meet at the street level entrance to the Red Line Hollywood/Highland Station.
  • Sunday, September 3: Art Tour of Rail Stations from 10 a.m. to noon. Meet at the Union Station information kiosk near the Alameda Street entrance.
  • Saturday, September 9: Art & Architecture tour of Union Station — ¡en español! The tour takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet at the Union Station information kiosk near the Alameda Street entrance.
  • Saturday, September 9:  Metro Art Presents a sampling of the “Best of Leimert Park,” including the Michael Session Sextet, Derf Reklaw, Barbara Morrison, Fernando Pullum, Dwight Trible and Medusa from 1:45 p.m. to 2:20 p.m. during the 70th Anniversary of Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza.
  • Sunday, September 10: Art & Architecture Tour of Union Station from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet at the Union Station information kiosk near the Alameda Street entrance.
  • Friday, September 22: Rush hour concert featuring acoustic ensemble The Cory Beers Cimbalom Band from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Union Station’s North Patio.
  • Saturday, September 23: Artist led tour in conjunction with the new light box exhibition “Journeys: L.A. Communities Through the Eyes of Artists.” Meet at the aquarium in Union Station’s East Portal at 10:30 am.

Union Station is accessible via Metro Rail, Metro Bus, several municipal bus lines and Metro Bike Share. Use the Trip Planner for routes and connections. Car and bicycle parking are also available on site. Enter from Vignes or Cesar Chavez.
