Come celebrate Metro Bike’s one-year anniversary

It’s been one year since the launch of Metro Bike Share in DTLA and we’re celebrating with a party at The Wheelhouse in the Arts District. Come on down for food, refreshments, games, music and more!

We’ll have a pop-up Metro Bike station in front of The Wheelhouse to make it easy for you to ride ride there. Metro Bike pass holders can  score a free gift at the check-in booth. The party goes from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This has been an eventful year for Metro Bike. Since the launch of bike share there have been more than 180,000 total trips on Metro Bike and 5,900 passes sold. Riders have biked 452,840 miles — the same as biking to San Francisco from Los Angeles 1,303 times. They’ve also burned 12,706,501 calories. That’s the equivalent of 105,012 ice cream cones! And best of all, Metro Bike has helped remove 430,000 pounds of carbon dioxide from the air.

After celebrating the one-year anniversary of Metro Bike in DTLA, we’re looking forward to the launch of bike share in Pasadena on July 14. We’re planning a hold a group ride-off to commemorate the launch. If you’d like to participate in the ride, please RSVP and select your preferred station destination. The festivities on Friday begin at 9 a.m. and the ride-off happens at 10:30 a.m. The closest Metro Rail station to the event is the Gold Line Memorial Park Station.

  1. Question: will helmets be available with the bikes for the Pasadena Ride-Off on July 14? Happy to return the helmets with the bikes, of course. Let us know, please!

    • Hi Zoe — I don’t believe so. If you want to use a helmet, it’s best to bring your own.
