This morning, the U.S. Office of Management and Budget released the blueprint outline of the President’s Federal Fiscal Year 2018 budget request to Congress. As outlined, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s budget would be cut by 13 percent. Currently, Metro assumes substantial federal funding in its financial plan. A lack of federal funds at current levels would potentially impact Metro’s ability to deliver some projects in the Measure M transportation plan. Metro will continue to evaluate the budget released today to understand its potential fiscal impact on our agency.
Metro traditionally receives approximately $600 million annually in federal formula funding and has, over the past several years, secured approximately $300 million in federal New Starts funding for our transit projects. Metro has Full Funding Grant Agreements for the Regional Connector, Purple Line Extension Section 1 and Purple Line Extension Section 2. Metro is actively seeking and will continue to advocate for federal support for Purple Line Extension Section 3 funding.

Hi folks.
No more comments will be accepted on this post, which is not intended to be a referendum on the November election. There are many other forums where internet users can hash out those battles.

Trump supporters sure feel stupid these days. You all said “give the man a chance” blah blah blah….he’s actually been worse than most people anticipated. Can’t stop laughing at how incompetent and clueless Sean Spicer is lol
He’s NOT the one who should feel stupid, nor should all the conservatives who voted for him! The ones who should feel stupid are are all the liberals who supported a lier and a theif, like Hillary Clinton. Those people, and perhapps, people like you should feel stupid.

Trump cannot do this to us. We need transportation. He is all about the rich get richer, and the poorer get poorer
That’s a VERY LIBERAL statement! ONLY people who don’t understand that this country, and this state cannot afford to keep spending, the money has to come from somewhere. Are you willing to DOUBLE or even TRIPLE your taxes? I hope so, because that’s the only way that things can continue along the same path. I am NOT willing to pay more taxes!
This is NOT about who get’s richer, it IS about FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY! If you enjoy paying more taxes, then keep doing what you’ve been doing for the last 8 years!
We already paid the gas taxes, now Trump doesn’t want to give anything back. I say cut the bloated, wasteful military budget, not transit funding that actually helps cities.
That border wall is money down the drain too. What a waste. People need to have their members of Congress on speed dial and speak out against this terrible budget proposal.
john- NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING LIBERAL, OR CONSERVATIVE- TRUMP IS DOING THE USUAL REPUBLICAN THING- KILL OFF THE POOR, BLEED THE MIDDLE CLASS TO EXTREME ANEMIA, R EWARD THE ALL READY FAT MILITARYWITH MORE FAT THAT THEY DONT NEED. ALL THE WHILE THE RICH FAT CATS ARE SUCKING UP WHATS LEFT, SO ITS BUSINESS AS USUAL. BY THE WAY, I SERVED IN THE MILITARY, I HAVE SEEN AND LIVED IN THAT CULTURE, AND KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT.WE NEED THESE LA TRANSIT PROJECTS FINISHED, NOT LEFT TO SIT HALF DONE, DUE TO NO FUNDS. BY THE WAY TRUMPS FOLLY, the border wall,COULD BE BETTER UTILILZED BY DIVERTING THAT MONEY TO OUR ROADS, BRIDGES, AND, YES, MEALS FOR WHEELS.
“We are going to rebuild our infrastructure, which will become, by the way, second to none and we will put millions of our people to work as we rebuild it.” ~Candidate Donald Trump
“We have to fix our infrastructure. But we have to fix it” ~ Candidate Donald Trump
“Infrastructure — we’re going to start spending on infrastructure big. Not like we have a choice. It’s not like, oh gee, let’s hold it off.” ~ President Donald Trump just last month
Thats just a sampling, I can list a hundred more just like this. These statements don’t synch with this budget, not in the slightest. He repeatedly attacked hillary clinton because he didn’t think her infrastructure plan was willing to spend enough money (in reality she was just realistic), so donald pledged to spend double or tripple whatever Hillary proposed, with this budget we see we will really get a drastic reduction in infrastructure spending, causing our infrastructure to further deteriorate into what donald called “third world territory”.. Thats not good for our nations economy.
So we cannot afford to spend even a basic minimum on keeping up our nations infrastructure but we can afford a wasteful wall that experts say is waste of money? or to spend billions more ripping apart families who have lived here peacefully for decades?? or to finance a massive tax break for the wealthiest .5%? That doesn’t sound like a governement that can’t afford anything.
