Centinela Avenue closure update
Friday, 17, 2017 1:05 p.m.
The closure of Centinela Avenue at Florence Avenue in Inglewood has been extended until midnight on Saturday, March 18, due to unexpected soil conditions. Metro apologizes for the inconvenience to residents, motorists and general public.
Centinela Avenue will be closed to traffic until 4 p.m. on Friday, March 17 between Beach and Florence Avenues in Inglewood to build a rail crossing at Centinela and Florence Avenues as part of the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project construction.
The work consists of demolition, excavation, installation of duct banks, back filling with ballast, installation of rail and components, and minor street improvements.
What to Expect
Right and left turns will be restricted onto Centinela Avenue from Florence Avenue. Local access to La Colina Drive will be maintained. Drivers will be guided by flaggers at the corners of La Colina Drive and Beach Avenue. One southbound lane on Centinela Avenue will be closed between Beach Avenue and Hyde Park Boulevard. There will be eastbound lane reduction on Centinela Avenue when approaching La Brea Avenue.
Detours
- If traveling west bound on Florence Avenue, take La Brea Avenue north to Centinela Avenue.
- If traveling eastbound on Florence turn left to La Brea then turn left on Centinela Avenue.

Any update on the potential bridge at this intersection?
Hi,
The Board authorized a grade separation for the intersection of Florence Avenue and Centinela Avenue in January. Staff will be doing environmental planning and preliminary design before returning to the Board.

Didn’t the Metro Board just decide to do this as an overcrossing?
