Community meetings in Huntington Park on March 23 for Rail to River project

There were community meetings earlier this year on segment A for the Rail to River walking and bike path project that will run between the Crenshaw/LAX Line and the Los Angeles River.

And more meetings are on tap — with two on March 23 in Huntington Park focusing on segment B, the portion of the path between the Blue Line’s Slauson Station and the L.A. River. Meetings will be held at:

3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
Oldtimers Housing Development Corp.
Ballroom IV
3355 E. Gage Avenue
Huntington Park, CA

Information provided at both meetings will be the same.

The goal is to complete segment A by 2019 before the planned fall opening of the Crenshaw/LAX Line. As we’ve written before, this can be a great project that links the Crenshaw/LAX Line, Silver Line, Blue Line, many busy north-south bus lines. Eventually, segment B could link to a Measure M-funded bike lane along the L.A. River that will run from the San Fernando Valley to Long Beach.

Here is a presentation on segment B from December:

  1. So wrong to waste this ROW. This really should rail to LAX or a light rail from Inglewood to Whittier. PLEASE design for future rail !
