Capturing the place-ness of a place: Metro’s Snapchat geofilters

Snapchat geofilters can be a fun way to show your location and the best places have multiple geofilters that reflect the various aspects of where you are — whether it’s a city, landmark, neighborhood or event site.

Metro traverses through these places, sure, but oftentimes our rail stations are also a defining characteristic of the neighborhoods they serve. They help create the place-ness of a place, through station name and art. So we thought it’d be great if Metro had some station geofilters, too.

Here are some stations with activated Metro geofilters:

  • Little Tokyo/Arts District Station
  • Chinatown Station
  • Mariachi Plaza Station
  • 103rd St/Watts Station
  • Aviation/LAX Station
  • North Hollywood Station
  • Downtown Santa Monica Station
  • …and more in the works!

If you’re on Snapchat and have an opportunity to use a Metro geofilter, we’d love to see it! Send us your snaps, or follow us @metrolosangeles to see them featured. Over the course of the year, we plan on revealing more geofilters at more stations…and allowing you to preview stations that are not complete yet via geofilters. You’ll be able to “see” the station art at the future Wilshire/La Brea Station or Leimert Park Station, and make it part of your story — before the station is done being built!
