It’s National Arts and Humanities Month, and here’s what Metro Art has planned. All events are free and open to the public!
Red Line art tour on Saturday, Oct. 1: Learn about the art at various Red Line stations. Meet at the street level entrance to Hollywood/Highland Station at 10 a.m. The tour lasts approximately two hours.
Metro Art Presents: Mahan Esfahani on Sunday, Oct. 2: enjoy harpsichord music by Mahan Esfahani at Union Station from 3 to 5 p.m.

Film Noir at Union Station on Friday, Oct. 7: the Film Noir at Union Station series will kick off with a screening of the 1950s thriller Union Station in, appropriately, the Union Station Historic Ticketing Room. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. and the film will start at 8 p.m. Special guest Alan K. Rode will introduce the film. Seating will be on a first come, first served basis.
Union Station art tour on Sunday, Oct. 9: learn about historic Union Station art and architecture and visit spaces not generally open to the public. The tour will meet at the information booth inside the Alameda Street entrance at 10:30 a.m. and last approximately two hours.

The Makers artist conversation on Thursday, Oct. 20: the last artist conversation of the series. Hear from artists Roy Dowell, June Edmonds and Michael Massenburg, who have created artwork for Metro. The conversation will be held in the Union Station Historic Ticketing Room from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Day of the Dead Tour on Saturday, Oct. 29: A celebration of the lives of those who have passed on will be held on a special Día de los Muertos themed art tour. The tour will start with free face painting at Universal City/Studio City Station at 3 p.m. and will depart from there at 4 p.m. It will end with a viewing of the ofrendas on display at Grand Park.
Finally, the latest Through the Eyes of Artists poster can now be seen throughout our system. Celebrate the color and complexity of the small but mighty city of West Hollywood, as depicted by Iris Yirei Hu. The art poster is the third of five in the 2016 series to be displayed on board Metro trains and buses. Posters featuring Monterey Park and La Cañada Flintridge were released earlier this year; Eagle Rock and San Pedro will round out the year. More on Iris here.
