As part of the Nov. 8 ballot, Los Angeles County voters will be considering Measure M, a half-cent sales tax increase and extension of the Measure R half-cent tax beyond 2039 to pay for transit, highway, walking, biking and other transportation projects. Both taxes would continue in perpetuity or until voters decide to end them.
Metro has produced fact sheets that show the projects and programs in Measure M’s spending plan for each of the nine subregions of the county. Among the major projects that would receive funding from Measure M are a widening of the 5 freeway between the 14 freeway and Lake Hughes Road and the High Desert Corridor, which is a new freeway between the 14 freeway in Palmdale and San Bernardino Country.
