The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Transit Bureau South and Metro will be holding a commuter appreciation day next Tuesday, Aug. 23. The event will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Station, which serves the Blue Line, Green Line and numerous bus routes.

A look of determination: Folti's ready to get to work.

Just one of the K-9s who guard our system. Find out more about what transit security K-9s do here.

Come out and get to know the deputies who patrol our system. They’ll be there to answer any questions you might have about safety and security on Metro. There will also be fun giveaways, K-9 demonstrations, rider info and more.

Staff from Metro’s Rider Relief Program will also be on hand to provide information on how to get discounted transit passes. You can save up to $10 monthly on your transit pass if eligible.

  1. How about patrols on the red line after 1030 at night? Numerous violations including loud music, aggressive panhandling, etc…

  2. Question for the Sherrif’s Department: What is the purpose of having 3-4 deputies standing 5-10 feet from the ticket gates at the Norwalk Station every morning? Do they think the people that JUST swiped their TAP cards just a FEW FEET away didn’t??? At least once a week after I run the gauntlet of deputies and board the train there’s some person on the train asleep with all their bags around them. Nothing against the homeless, but should deputies be dealing with that???
