It seems like people are getting more and more creative with naming their open streets events and I love it. Viva SGV! is set to take place Sunday, June 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bike, walk, skate, run, and shop around El Monte and South El Monte without worrying about cars. The 4.9-mile route incorporates the Rio Hondo River Bike Path, Peck Road Park and Whittier Narrows.
You can attend the event by taking the Metro Silver Line to El Monte Bus Station, or the Metrolink San Bernardino Line to El Monte Station. El Monte Bus Station is also home to Metro’s first Bike Hub, which offers secure bike parking, bike repair services and more.
Parking will be available on a first come, first served basis at the El Monte Silver Line Station from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is receiving a $300,000 grant from Metro’s Open Streets program.

The website is a little vague about what is going on at the “Activity Hubs”. Under http://vivasgv.org/vendors/ it says “Activities include:
Bicycle and pedestrian safety trainings
Physical activity challenges
Children’s art workshops
Nutrition education discussions
Healthy food and beverage demos and
Health and wellness lifestyle tips and strategies
Music, Art and Entertainment
and vendor food trucks.
