Major turnout for Downey Ride and Stride

The city of Downey hosted the Downey Ride and Stride open street event on Sunday, with nearly 30,000 people coming out to walk, bike, skate and everything in between.

Besides wide-open streets, Downey Ride and Stride also included a rock climbing wall, a bounce house and marching bands. The event was particularly kid-popular as it corresponded with Downey’s Youth Day. Metro provided a bus to show people how to utilize the triple bike rack, and the 5.5-mile route covered residential and commercial corridors and was lined by booths from local organizations and merchants.

Don’t miss the next Open Streets event: CicLAvia: Southeast Cities, taking place May 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
