The weather this past weekend was pretty ideal for having fun outside, and I hope many of you took advantage of it. Perhaps you were able to attend the Lawndale Community Bike Ride & Open Streets Event sponsored by Metro and enjoyed the spring weather sans car!
The event saw many families (and a few pirates) biking, walking, skating and dancing in the streets. Attendees also had the opportunity to learn about biking in Los Angeles County and the Summer 2016 launch of Metro Bike Share in DTLA.
If you missed this Open Streets event, don’t worry, there are more on the way. The next event is the Downey Ride & Stride Open Street Event taking place Sunday, May 1, and that’s followed by CicLAvia: Southeast Cities Presented by Metro on Sunday, May 15. Mark your calendars now!
The Lawndale Community Bike Ride & Open Streets Event was funded by the Metro Open Streets grant program. The event was produced by the city of Lawndale and supported by From Lot to Spot, the Rotary Club of Lawndale, the South Bay Bicycle Coalition and other community partners.
