UPDATE, TUESDAY MORNING: The problem has been resolved and the ticket vending machines are working again.
As of Monday at 5 p.m., a problem was preventing TAP vending machines from accepting credit cards or debit cards as a form of payment. The machines are still accepting cash.
Metro is working to resolve the problem as soon as possible. We’ll provide an update when the problem is fixed.

I wonder if Metro will fix the subway gates. They don’t stop fare evaders at all. It is a joke. I see people walk through the handicap gate without tapping all the time. The gate is useless. Even when closed there is still a gap and I see people slip through. Such a waste of money. And rarely do I see sheriff checking passes.
Why has the MTA made it so complicated? Just allow passengers to use their Master Cards and Visa’s to pay their fare directly when boarding the bus or train.
