Bus shuttles will replace train service between Lake and Sierra Madre Villa Stations beginning 11 p.m. Saturday night, January 30 through 11 a.m. Sunday, January 31. During this time, crews will perform final tie-in work to configure train control and signal systems- allowing trains to travel through the forthcoming Gold Line Foothill Extension.
The following service changes will be in effect while upgrade work occurs: After 11 p.m., all northbound trains will travel as far as Lake Station and return southbound. Customers wishing to travel between Lake and Sierra Madre Villa must board Metro bus shuttles labeled “Gold Line Shuttle” in order to do so. Shuttles are scheduled to run every 20 minutes late-night Saturday and every 10 minutes Sunday morning. In addition to bus shuttles, this weekend’s work will require temporary adjustments to Gold Line service levels. These changes can be found on our Planned Service Advisories page.
Leading up to the start of work on Saturday night, trains will run every 20 minutes starting around 10:30 p.m. through 11 a.m. Sunday morning. Trains will also share one track at Del Mar and Memorial Park Saturday night, so customers traveling through the area should listen to station announcements for proper boarding instructions. Regular service to all stations will resume Sunday after 11 a.m. (Please note all times are subject to work-related delays.)
Finally, as a friendly reminder, Little Tokyo/Arts District remains closed thru late March for Regional Connector Work. Please see the previous Source post for bus shuttles replacing train service between Union Station, Little Tokyo and Pico/Aliso.
We’d like to thank all customers affected by the work this weekend for their patience and understanding as we close in on opening the Gold Line Foothill Extension! Please remember to check back here at The Source or on Twitter @metrolaalerts for the latest service updates.
