Metro’s Accessibility Unit has launched several Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and accessibility-related customer information videos, starting with the above, ‘Metro: A Customer’s View.’ The videos are meant to help educate and encourage those with disabilities on how to get around via public transportation so they feel confident, safe and comfortable on Metro Bus and Rail.
“With 100,000 wheelchair boardings per month, it’s very important to make sure that people in wheelchairs, and people who have other mobility challenges, have access to our system,” Metro CEO Phillip A. Washington said.
The videos are in English and Spanish with open captioning to increase accessibility to the information. Additional language versions will be added in the coming months. Additional videos and vignettes will also follow over the next few months. In addition to being shared online, the videos will be used at Metro outreach events such as the Abilities Expo in February 2016.
The Abilities Expo is free to attend! Pre-register to attend online, or you can register at the door at the Los Angeles Convention Center West Exhibition Hall. Metro will be hosting a premiere showing of the customer information videos on Friday, Feb. 5, at 12:30 p.m. to debut the video above and two as-yet unreleased videos.
To get to the Abilities Expo, take the Blue or Expo Line to Pico Station, or hop on the Silver Line to Flower/Pico.
