Metro statement on tragic death today of long-time employee Willie Toy

As you may have heard, a Metro employee died early this morning in Hollywood when the employee’s van was struck by a car apparently fleeing the police. Metro CEO Phillip A. Washington has issued the following statement:

It is with the deepest sadness that I write to inform you of a passing within our Metro family. This morning, a tragic accident claimed the life of Mr. Willie Toy, a 15-year employee and Custodian Lead. Mr. Toy was on duty when his Metro van was struck while traveling between Metro Red Line stations at the intersection of Hollywood and Gower. During this time of great loss, my deepest condolences are with his family and friends. I ask that you join me in keeping Mr. Toy’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this difficult time.
