There’s a lot going on in the film world this week and nearly all of it all has to do with the release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” one of the most highly-anticipated films in recent memory and which opened here Thursday night.

In addition to Star Wars, there are a bunch of other movies opening this week and over the holidays, not to mention some worthy flicks that have been showing (such as “Creed” and “Spotlight”). With the Oscars season to follow, we thought it would be a good time to list the movie theaters nearest to Metro Rail stations for your next filmgoing outing. 1. Thanks for the suggestions!

Another two that are worth mentioning are the Rave Cinemas 15 at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza and Arclight Cinemas – Santa Monica. The Rave is more than a 20 minute walk from the existing Crenshaw/Expo Station but will be located right next to the Crenshaw/LAX line’s Crenshaw/MLK when the line is finished. The Arclight Cinemas – Santa Monica can be added to this list when the Expo Line opens in downtown Santa Monica in 2016 (https://www.arclightcinemas.com/en/locations/los-angeles/santa-monica/showtimes?origin=Santa-Monica).

  2. I know the Orange Line isn’t rail, but the AMC Promenade 16 is across the street from the Warner Center station.

  3. There’s also the Los Feliz theatre (three screens) on North Vermont, five minutes walk up from Vermont/Sunset. It’s part of the same group as the Vista.
