Keep your eyes peeled for poetry on your next bus ride and may poet Robin Coste Lewis’s words inspire your mind.

Robin’s poem (pictured above) was selected by our long-time collaborator, Poetry Society of America, as part of Poetry In Motion/LA™, a Metro Art program that places poetry directly in the path of more than one million Metro bus riders daily.

In addition to presenting poetry cards in Metro bus interiors, the art program annually celebrates National Poetry month in April with live poetry readings. Stay tuned for another “Rush Hour Reading” next year at Union Station. This past April featured Los Angeles-based poets Luis Javier Rodriguez, Eloise Klein Healy, Kate Gale and Robin Coste Lewis.

Robin’s debut poetry collection, Voyage of the Sable Venus and Other Poems (Knopf, 2015), was recently published and her work was featured prominently in a recent New Yorker profile. A dedicated Los Angeles native, Robin was born in Compton and is currently a Provost’s Fellow in the Creative Writing & Literature Ph.D. Program at the University of Southern California.
