With major subway construction work looming on Wilshire Boulevard to build an underground station at Wilshire and La Brea, Metro will be hosting its next Purple Line Extension project community meeting on Thursday, November 12 to get input on options to perform needed closures for street decking work.
The meeting will be held at the John Burroughs Middle School Auditorium, 600 South McCadden Place, L.A. starting at 5:30 p.m.
Two options for closing Wilshire Boulevard are being considered for the decking operation that will place temporary concrete slabs on Wilshire Boulevard to allow Metro’s contractor to continue station construction underneath. One option is conducting a prolonged decking operation lasting 22 consecutive weekends, or, alternately, closing a portion of Wilshire Boulevard down completely for seven weeks. Metro has already recommended that the operation occur in the shortest time possible to minimize public impacts but is open to hearing all community input prior to making a final decision.
This community meeting will be co-presented by L.A. City Council Member David Ryu. See meeting notice below for meeting specifics.
