There’s only a few more weekends left to take advantage of the free bicycle safety classes taking place around L.A. County. For those unfamiliar with the Metro funded classes that have been taking place all summer long, here’s a quick recap about the types of classes available:
Entry Level Classes (2 hours; In classroom; No bike)
For recreational riders ready to venture beyond their neighborhood!
Intermediate Commuting Classes (3 hours; In classroom & on bike)
Learn the basics of riding safely in the streets and practice in a community group ride.
Traffic Skills 101 Classes (8 hours; In classroom & on bike)
The most comprehensive course that teaches everything you will need to ride safely with traffic. Presented over two days, first in-classroom instruction only, followed by on-bike learning.
Participants will receive a helmet, bicycle light set, and safety manual after completing a course and must be 14 or older to attend.

The free bicycle safety classes are funded by Metro through a $224,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety. Announced during Bike Week L.A., the grant will fund more than 150 bicycle safety education classes in the region. More than 3,200 county residents of varying urban cycling skills and abilities will be able to take advantage of these free classes.

Why is there not a class in Pasadena because BikeShare is coming to town eventually.
