The free bicycle safety classes are funded by Metro through a $224,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety. Announced during Bike Week L.A., the grant will fund more than 150 bicycle safety education classes in the region. More than 3,200 county residents of varying urban cycling skills and abilities will be able to take advantage of these free classes.

  1. I’m reminded of bicycle safety day back when I was in elementary school. A local traffic cop came in to teach. And one of his lines remains with me today, which I paraphrase:

    They’re called sideWALKs and crossWALKs, not sideRIDEs or crossRIDEs.
