tap ez pass

Beginning September 1, the EZ Transit Pass stickers are going away! The passes will continue to be valid fare directly through your TAP card, and all you’ll need to do is TAP before you board any bus or train that participates in the EZ Transit Pass program. For more information on EZ Transit Pass fares, check here.

  1. I don’t see any mention of loading EZ fares from the machines. With the phasing out of the stickers, I would hope that EZ fares can be loaded at the machines now, correct? Having to go to the outlets was a major inconvenience for those of us who couldn’t make it during the limited hours (near impossible to buy one early in the morning, or later in the evening, and even less options on Saturdays and Sunday with the Metro outlets closed and the grocery sales counters having limited hours).

  2. I’m glad they got rid of the Zone sticker. It ruined the look of the TAP card and made it more bulky each time I placed the new sticker on top of the old one. The only times I ever used the sticker was to show the LA DASH driver that an EZ Transit Pass when I get a “Passback” error and before Santa Monica installed TAP readers. As for the new website, it looks nice but I miss being able to tell what bus system and metro station I used. The “Device ID” doesn’t help me at all figure out what bus or metro station I used.

  3. Why no information about EZPass for transit riders with no LAX Security Badge? I work 2 blocks from LAX and would like to use the FlyAway.

    • Hi Anita,

Because FlyAway is operated by LAWA, you may need to contact them regarding their policy on EZPass for non-LAX employees. They can be reached at 1-866-435-9529.

  4. “Because it doesn’t cost Metro any money to give their employees free transit…”

Nothing is free in this world. “Free” most likely means “someone else is paying for it.” By this, the benefits of free transit to Metro employees is paid for by us, the taxpayers, much like their union pension plans and other over-generous benefits public employees get in this state.

As for the TAP card not requiring stickers for EZ Transit Pass, it seems they’re getting ready to deploy the taptogo.net website which will “supposedly” is going to go live tomorrow.

“Thank you for your patience while we put the finishing touches on our new website. Check back on Tuesday, August 25th to see a cool, new site we hope you’ll love.”

Of course, they didn’t specifically mention what time tomorrow, so they can easily just as delay this to 11:59 PM tomorrow and still say they got it on time, and if not, they can quietly delay this again and offer no explanation, just like they have been doing for the past 2 years.

    • The got the new website up, finally.

Looks a lot better and more easier to navigate, but it’s still missing some key features as promised in the new website coming soon video. Figures.

  5. Link does not work on the section “For more information on EZ Transit Pass fares, check here.”
