For our Metro Blue, Expo, Green and Gold Line customers, here are the service advisories to be aware of starting today through Saturday, Aug. 8.
Midday track inspections for the Gold Line will continue this week along with late-night maintenance work. From Tuesday, Aug 4 through Friday, Aug 7, Gold Line trains will operate every 15 minutes with trains sharing one track at South Pasadena and Fillmore from 9:30 a.m. to 2: 30 p.m.
After 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday through Thursday and on Saturday, Gold Line trains will operate every 15 minutes between Union Station and Pasadena, sharing one track at Allen Station.
Those who have been following the recent Gold Line service levels may know the planned maintenance is related to damaged overhead wires that occurred this past April. It is estimated that crews will finish repairs along the entire line by the end of this month.
The Blue Line Upgrades Project resumes this week with late-night maintenance and station refurbishment work from Monday through Friday after 9 p.m. to close of service. All Blue Line trains will run every 20 minutes and share one track between Vernon and Florence Station. Moving to the Expo Line, on Saturday only maintenance work will occur from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Trains are also slated to operate every 20 minutes. Please note: this week’s Blue/Expo Line maintenance will not involve a station closure.
And finally, some Green Line stations will close temporarily for upgrade work starting Friday evening after 9 p.m. and continue until close of service Saturday. During the closure, bus shuttles will replace rail service between Vermont/Athens and LAX/Aviation Stations. This means all westbound trains will stop at Vermont/Athens and return eastbound to Norwalk, and all eastbound trains will stop at LAX/Aviation and return westbound to Redondo Beach. Crews are scheduled to make station improvements, such as new station paint and signal system upgrades.
Having said that, we recognize the upcoming service changes can be a nuisance, and would like to thank all affected customers for your patience and understanding.

For the Gold line in the last couple of days, it was about 4:00 pm, but I had to wait over 20 minutes at Fillmore Station for an East LA bound train to show up. During that time I was waiting, 4 Pasadena bound trains had passed. Was there a reason for the delay on the southbound train?
Per your “Source” report, delays and/or schedule changes on certain Metro Rail lines were set to take effect on MONDAY, August 3rd, However, your notice was not posted until Tuesday, August 4th. Why did Metro give its passengers NO ADVANCE NOTICE of planned service changes that took effect on Monday, July 3rd?
Who in Metro’s bureaucracy is responsible for this failure to keep passengers informed of planned service changes that Metro clearly had to have known about?
Hi B,
The information was posted on metro.net/advisories and sent out to customers on other channels yesterday. The maintenance scheduling is fluid and depend on a variety of circumstances, and so we update as soon we receive finalized information. If you would like further details or to provide more feedback, please email CustomerRelations@metro.net.
Thank you,
