The schedule at the Special Olympics World Games is chock-full of events today and Saturday. If you haven’t had the chance to attend yet, there’s still time and Metro can help you reach many of the venues.
In particular, downtown L.A. workers and residents can easily reach events at USC (Expo Line) and the L.A. Convention Center (Blue and Expo Line’s Pico Station). After work yesterday, I hopped on the Expo Line and caught a couple of women’s basketball games, both of which went down to the wire with Mexico edging Ecuador and Costa Rica winning by two over India. (I also caught dressage earlier in the day at the L.A. Equestrian Center in Burbank, which is not exactly convenient to transit but still a neat place to visit).
Admission to all competitions is free. If you have time today or can sneak out of work for a few minutes, I highly encourage you to swing by some of the competitions. There are folks here from across the planet and I’m sure they would appreciate the support.

I’m relieved that the missing Albanian athlete was found safe, somehow 350 miles away in Hayward, CA.
