The Metro Blue Line will run regular service this Independence Day Weekend, with no upgrade work or related station closures.
The details of our 4th of July Weekend schedule can be found here, but here’s the gist of it:
- Friday, Jul 3: Metro will run a normal, weekday schedule. This includes late-night service on all rail lines and the Orange and Silver Lines.
- Saturday, Jul 4: All rail lines will follow a Saturday schedule, ending around 2 a.m. Trains will be full-platform-length on the Red, Purple, Blue and Expo Lines–in anticipation of increased afternoon/evening ridership to Independence Day events in downtown L.A., Exposition Park and Long Beach. Metro Orange and Silver Lines will follow a Sunday/Holiday schedule, with extended late-night service until 2 a.m.
- Sunday, Jul 5: All rail lines, as well as the Orange and Silver Lines, will run on Sunday/Holiday schedule.
For information about Metro bus service over the holiday weekend, please see the 4th of July Service Advisory Page.
Looking ahead, the station refurbishment portion of the Blue Line Upgrade Project is nearly complete, requiring only two more weekends of closures. These will occur Jul 10 through 12 and 17 through 19. During this time, Pico Station will be closed as it receives new canopies, paint, tile and audio/visual enhancements. There will also be no Metro Blue Line rail service between 7th Street/Metro Center and Grand/LATTC Station, and no Expo Line trains between downtown L.A. and 23rd Street/LATTC/Ortho Institute Station beginning Friday at 9pm through Sunday close of service. Instead, free Blue and Expo Line bus shuttles will be available to transport customers between 7th Street/Metro Center, Pico Station and Grand/LATTC or 23rd Street/LATTC/Ortho Institute stations. We will provide additional information, including where to board Expo and Blue Line bus shuttles, in a post next week.
From all of us at Metro, have a safe, happy 4th! And don’t forget to check back here, at The Source, or follow us on Twitter @metrolosangeles or @metroLAalerts for up-to-the-minute service advisories this weekend.
