Deal of the Week: TAP and save while you watch the Women’s World Cup

Yes, the Fourth of July is this Saturday, but it’s also the last week of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, meaning the excitement actually starts now.

Four games remain to determine which country’s team will claim the title of world champion for the next four years. Team USA is still in the running, but all that could change today at 4 p.m. Pacific Standard Time when our ladies take on the Germans in the first game of the semi-finals. Japan and England will face off in the second semi-final game, happening this Wednesday at 4 p.m. The losers of those two games will have a shot at redemption, in the form of a third place trophy, this Saturday at 1 p.m. Sunday is the World Cup Final.

Now, everyone knows the best way to watch sports is in the company of fellow fans, with lots of spicy, greasy, gooey food and beverages to help celebrate (or numb the pain). Avid futbol-lover and transit-enthusiast that I am, I went ahead and called all of our Destination Discount partners to see which venues would be showing the Women’s World Cup this week/end.* (If you didn’t already know, businesses that are a part of our Destination Discounts program offer deals, freebies and other perks to those who arrive via Metro bus or rail.) Show your valid TAP card at the following eateries and you’ll be able to watch Women’s World Cup games and save on food and drinks: score! (Pun intended. ?)

*Author’s note: the chosen venues either have big screens, or were planning to play the game with the sound on, or both. Some of our other Destination Discount partners have said they would play the games if requested, including Casey’s Irish Pub and City Tavern in downtown L.A., and the Federal Bar in Long Beach…but big screens + sound = quality experience!
