East meets West in the new musical romance Waterfall. The play based on Thai novel Behind the Painting, tells the story of Noppon, a young Thai student, who falls head-over-heels for Katherine, the American wife of the ambassador to Thailand. The affair takes place in Bangkok and Tokyo, where their forbidden love is tested on the brink of War World II.
The musical is brought to you by Tony award-winning writer Richard Maltby Jr. and Oscar-winning composer David Shire. If you haven’t seen the world premiere run of Waterfall at Pasadena Playhouse yet, this week is your last chance! The show will end its California residency on Sunday, June 28 and move to Seattle theaters, eventually making it to the big stage (Broadway) in 2016.
