More rail improvements are scheduled for the Metro Green Line this weekend. In order for crews to perform the work, Redondo Beach Station will close from Saturday, June 20 through Sunday, June 21 close of service.
Free bus shuttles will replace Green Line rail service between Douglas and Redondo Beach, and all westbound trains traveling toward Redondo Beach will end at Douglas and return eastbound to Norwalk.
A full station closure is required this weekend as crews will use a crane to paint artwork at high levels. Although we anticipate the new paint to be completed this Sunday, customers should be aware that improvements may require an additional weekend. Be sure to check here on the Source in case the work is prolonged to Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28.
Between Norwalk and Douglas Stations, Green Line trains will arrive every 15 to 17 minutes per usual weekend schedule. However, trains will not follow times listed in the regular, posted timetables. Customers traveling westbound to Douglas won’t need to TAP. Those who are traveling eastbound from bus shuttles to Douglas will need to TAP at the fare gates.
Metro would like to thank everyone affected by this work for their understanding as the end result is to improve Metro rail service. For service alerts and transit news, please follow us on Twitter @metrolosangles or @metrolaalerts.
